The principal characters, Mike Carnavon and Barbara Quist are differing in every respect. In the end, Barbara, the victim, manages to retain her moral stature.

LOVE OR DIE is the struggle of a young woman to free herself from bondage. She is blackmailed to work for an international assassination network. To reach her tormentor she must find out who ordered a particular murder.

SOLDIER OF MISFORTUNE. In the 1930's a young Hungarian soldier kills a brother officer in a duel, and forced to resign his commission. He becomes a quasi-mercenary in the service of a small colony recently acquiring independence. His story takes the reader back to the dying days of colonialism and shows how a country could slide into apartheid.
